This standard home garden and market variety is open pollinated. The thickened stems have a uniformly deep purple skin and a crisp green-white flesh. For best flavor and texture, harvest when stem is 2.5" in diameter. Stems become fibrous with age. Also popular as microgreens because of its purple stem color.
